Climbing for everybody

With Erasmus +, the European Union has expanded the educational programs also sport. CAI, along with five other European mountaineering associations, participate in "Weeks"

He took the Street last week, the project "Erasmus + Climbing for everybody" organized by six mountaineering associations: CAI (Italy), Czech Mountaineering Federation (Rep. Czech Republic), Bratislava (Slovakia), Mountaineering Union James Planiska Zveza Slovenije (Slovenia), Magyar Szoveiseg (Hungary) and Barat Szet Tereme Hrvatski Planinrski Savez – HPS (Croatia).

"Climbing for everybody" aims to disseminate and make the public aware of the activities related to the mountain and the values and traditions of the same in different countries, highlighting especially the potential and positive impact, even on health, activities carried out in the environment from mountaineering and Climbing Federation.

The ultimate goal is to develop strategies for the future, which are useful to the project partners and also with other associations that wish to make their own, disseminate and promote the activities taking into account that the investment in education is the key to success future». It will be achieved through the Organization of "Weeks of mountain" at involving 15 members from each Club. The Czech Federation, as promoter, arranged by 25 September to 2 October 2016 the first five Weeks of the mountain "in the village of Adrspach-Teplice in Nachod district.

The area, like most sites sport climbing Czechs, consists of sandstone towers on which they develop "pull" characterized by cracks and chimneys where, as a group, we could experience a style of climbing atypical compared to ours.

The details however are not limited to the type of rock, in fact, what makes Adrspach unique is a special "rules", or rather an ethic written and developed by the initiators, you must abide scrupulously in order not spoil these magnificent towers. This ethics places the mountain and its preservation, in the spotlight of the climber, who is granted the use of magnesite, nor the application of spit and friends or any other type of metal protection: instead they exploit hourglasses and Special nodes to fit into the rock. It is even forbidden to climb when the rock is wet, because there is a risk that this come apart and it breaks when stressed; In addition, there are other indications for care and not to ruin it.

The Italian delegation left from Milan Sunday 25 September consisted of fourteen participants since one of them was injured. In the group there were: Matteo Colico (23 years), Thomas Gusmeo (23), Giulia Paris (24), Martina Piccaroletti (19) and Arianna Proserpio (21), accompanied by Marcello Caccialupi (instructor of climbing), Martino Brambilla (instructor AG), Andrea Farneti ( Mountaineering instructor), Lucia Feathers (Coordinator), Lorella Franceschini (mountaineering Instructor), Emanuela Pandey and Elena Tovaglieri (Headquarters CAI), Renato Veronesi (Ski Instructor).

Since its arrival at Prague Airport friends of the Czech delegation, cordially nicknamed "Crazy cech guys", they did everything necessary to put participants at ease, encouraging dialogue and interaction between the groups but especially helping you to discover the unusual climbing mode, always minding the safety of guests and trying to provide more possible notions about culture and traditions of the region of Adrspach. The aid provided was certainly essential for your personal safety and to prevent any injuries in wall, with random nailing as in these cases are more frequent: fortunately are not successes incidents, demonstrating the good Organization and climbing skills of the participants. The week, mainly thanks to the excellent weather conditions, was held as scheduled following two fundamental axes: climbing and follow a course of evening presentations on the history of climbing in the Czech Republic and its characteristics and, for some, participate in working groups on issues identified as critical to the Alpine clubs such as: methods of teaching, communication, youth, as interest them and hold them, cooperation with regulators and sign-in issues, collaboration between foreign clubs, activities reserved for the elderly.

The experience was interesting and informative, without a doubt, not only for the opportunity to practice a kind of unusual climbing but especially for mountaineers and climbers foreigners with which it was possible to share ideas and experiences; among others, two pillars of history, past and present, of climbing: Igor Koller and Adam Ondra! The whole Italian delegation remained positively affected and despite that kind of climbing was unknown to all and would be tiring and difficult, no one is discouraged, indeed all have good teachings with, in some cases, the desire to return to climbing in those areas. In any case, the experience really enjoyed and will leave a lasting impression on every one of them.

During the last evening was presented next week, which will take place from 17 to 24 June 2017 Popradske pleso in Slovakia in the village.

We thank all participants for the fantastic adventure, especially the Czech friends who allowed me to know a fabulous scenic locations and alpinisticamente. We look forward with enthusiasm the next adventure.
